I've been hard at work making gifts for loved ones this Christmas season, all in the form of crochet (I'm not patient enough for many other "crafty" gift ideas). The first gift to be given was a blanket for my sister-in-law. As soon as I saw this pattern, I knew it would go perfectly in her living room.
Here's a picture of the original Sunny Spread (shown in the pattern):

And here's a picture of Katie's living room, complete with a sunburst mirror that immediately screamed, "Kim! I need this blanket!"

Believe it or not, I originally started this blanket back in June when I found a rush of motivation to get a jump start on some gifts. Then we received the exciting news that we're pregnant, and all of my crochet projects fell to the wayside as I ate saltines, sipped ginger ale, and watched the Olympics in bed. Priorities, people! ;)
Katie and I were together in October and, before diving back in, I decided to show her the pattern and gauge her reaction. Needless to say, she loved it and I found myself bound and determined to get it done before we exchanged Christmas gifts over Thanksgiving weekend! I might have early onset arthritis after the number of crochet projects I've taken on this holiday season, but I finished and that's what counts--right?!
Here is the new "Festively Red Sunny Spread" in all its glory. I'm sure it looks much better in Katie's house than mine, but at least it matches my green pillows! ;)
There are a few other gifts I'm working on, but I'll have to wait and show those after Christmas. Wouldn't want to spoil any gift-giving excitement!
PS--Don't you love how it's always after I announce my indecisiveness about blogging that I suddenly reappear with more posts than have been written in months? Yeah...
I’m sharing this at the Dare to DIY party hosted by Decor and the Dog, Maybe Matilda, Newly Woodwards, and Two Twenty One!

My lanta! This is beautiful. And it's going to be stunning in that living room. Which reminds me, what a FABULOUS living room.

Looooooove it! That is such a gorgeous pattern--I've made it once before, and now you're making me want to tackle it again. I don't think I've seen a version of it yet that I didn't love. The red is so fun, and it's going to look so perfect in her living room! You did a gorgeous job, and what an awesome gift that will be! I'm jealous. I wish I were on your Christmas list ;-) Awesome work!
